StorySir Alex Ferguson favors Ronaldo over Messi

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says that he would choose Cristiano Ronaldo everytime over Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi says he feels that the Portuguese superstar can excel for any club.

The competition between Ronaldo and Messi to determine the best player in the world has been going on for several years. Messi has edged over the Portuguese especially in terms of individual honours like the FIFA Ballon d’Or award, but there are still feel that Ronaldo is the better player and Ferguson is one of them. The Scot was the reason behind Ronaldo coming to the big stage after joining Manchester United in 2003.

However, he has worked extremely hard in order to improve his skills. With every season, the Portuguese has managed to improve himself as a player and this has been evident from his stats. The last few years, though, there is a feeling that he may have hit his peak. Messi, meanwhile, has not been the same as he was three years ago when he scored almost 100 goals in a calendar year. Ferguson says that it is very difficult between the two, but he would take Ronaldo simply because the Portuguese has the physical attributes and skill to perform at any club whereas Messi is at his best in the Barcelona setup.

"When the ball is at Messi's feet it is like he is wearing slippers. But there is a difference between Messi and Ronaldo and I'll tell you what it is. I think Messi is a Barcelona player but Ronaldo could be playing for Stockport County and he would score a hat-trick. He is brilliant in the air and he has two feet. Gary Neville was an ordinary average player who made himself a great player from practice," said Ferguson about the best between Messi and Ronaldo.
