Lille defender Jose Fonte has revealed the response from Cristiano Ronaldo when he jokingly asked him to swap Juventus for French champions Lille.
Ex-Southampton player Fonte talked about Cristiano Ronaldo in an exclusive chat with TalkSports as he was asked about the free transfer signing of the great Lionel Messi.
Fonte joked that he has texted Cristiano Ronaldo over a move to the French Ligue 1 and that his reply was a cheeky laugh ‘ha haha'. Fonte told his Portuguese international teammate to come and rescue Lille from the might of PSG who now have the fearsome trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and KylianMbappe in attack.
On the issue of Financial Fair Play (FFP), Fonte can't explain how PSG have been able to beat the financial regulations to add the expensive salary of Messi to their wage bill.
Argentine national team skipper Messi is the reigning Ballon d'Or Award recipient and he has signed a two-year deal to become a PSG player with the option of a third year. Reports claimed that he will earn a yearly salary worth £52m (£1m weekly) before tax and £25m after tax at the Parc des Princes.
Messi will link up with his friend, Neymar on the pitch for PSG. The two players had a very good relationship in their four years together at Barcelona before Neymar left to sign for PSG in 2017. The two players formed a potent trio with Uruguayan international Luis Suarez in the Barcelona attack and they were all instrumental as the Catalan giants won their final Champions League title in 2015.
Neymar, Suarez and Messi were almost unplayable as Barcelona won six trophies in 2015.
Little genius Messi will also link up with national team colleagues such as Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes at PSG.
