StoryMESSI IS NOT A RIVAL

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has said that he has no rivalry with Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo. It has often been suggested that Messi and Ronaldo have intense rivalry between each other, which is making them perform to the exemplary standards over the last few years.

Messi has managed to triumph Ronaldo to the FIFA Ballon d’Or award, which is the highest praise for footballer, on the last four occasions. Ronaldo has won it only once in his career, while Messi has become a record holder when it comes to the most number of FIFA Ballon d’Or award titles won.

Messi has said that he has no rivalry with Ronaldo and he is only concentrating on performing well with Barcelona. He has praised the qualities of the Portuguese footballer by saying that he can change in a game with his skills and quality. Messi will be working with his compatriot Gerardo Martino at Barcelona this season. After winning only the league title last season, Messi has targeted several trophies this campaign. The prolonged absence of Tito Vilanova from the dugout was one of the reasons for Barcelona being unable to match the high standards they set during the regime of Guardiola.

It was during this period that Messi became the best footballer in the world.

"There is no rivalry [with Ronaldo] at all. He's a good person and can change any game. He does his thing and I'm just focused on succeeding with Barcelona. We want to win titles in Spain and in Europe this season. It was sad how Tito had to go but now we are all with the new coach [Gerardo Martino]. It is no coincidence that the Barcelona players keep low-profile lives and have achieved success. We know that we are footballers, not movie stars," said Messi.
