Erik ten Hag insists Cristiano Ronaldo is still in Manchester United's plans after speculation has been rife all summer about the future of the captain of Portugal.
Ronaldo is set to lead the line for United as they take on Liverpool on Monday night at Old Trafford. The Dutchman hasn't enjoyed the greatest start to life in England after losing 2-1 at home to Brighton and Hove Albion before suffering a heavy 4-0 loss at Brentford on Saturday evening. Like United, Liverpool are yet to win in the Premier League this season, with the Reds drawing twice to Fulham and Crystal Palace. A win for either side at Old Trafford on Monday could be a huge boost as the new campaign starts to take shape.
Focus is yet again on Ronaldo with two weeks left in the transfer window as Ten Hag was forced to speak about his number seven in his press conference. The Red Devils manager revealed that he does not know why all focus has been placed on the superstar forward after their humiliation at the hands of Bremdford on Saturday, adding that it was a team performance and the whole team's attitude including Ronaldo. Ten Hag then concluded that Ronaldo is in his plans and that's what he can see.
The United boss knows the importance of every game in charge at Old Trafford, but there is more significance of playing Liverpool than any other.Ten Hag expects to have striker Anthony Martial fit for the first time this season after the Frenchman enjoyed a successful pre-season before picking up an injury. He also gave an injury report on Central defender Victor Lindelof, providing an update on the Swedish international star about a possible return to the team.
He said Victor has not returned to the training pitch, but the good news is that Anthony Martial is back in training with the team.
