Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo has said that his club has clearly been much better than Barcelona this season.

This has been a record-breaking season for both Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of the scoring statistics.

Real Madrid have now scored more goals than any other club in the Spanish la Liga, while Cristiano Ronaldo has also scored 54 goals in all competitions for the club. This is his best ever season in terms of scoring. Even though the former Manchester United winger had to suffer penalty heartbreak against Bayern Munich in the semifinals of the Champions League, he has said that he is extremely happy to win the league in Spain because it is one of the toughest.

Real Madrid finally managed to end the dominance of Barcelona in the domestic competition after winning the first title since 2008. Ronaldo has been a major contributing factor towards the title. Real Madrid clinched the Spanish la Liga title after the 2-1 win over Granada. Speaking after the match, Ronaldo said that Real Madrid fully deserve the title this season because they have been much better than their rivals Barcelona. Barcelona have had to contend with travelling to play in the Club World Cup. Progression into many cup competitions also took its toll on Barcelona.

"I am incredibly happy. This is my first league title in Spain and I am delighted. We’ve achieved our objective and we were all very excited about winning La Liga. The league is even harder when you fight for it with a team like Barcelona, but you feel great when you beat one of the best teams around. We were better than them. We all experience great joy for achieving our objective after fighting for 10 months," said Ronaldo on the official website of Real Madrid.
