Since his return to Manchester United at the start of the season, Cristiano Ronaldo has had a very good record in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) netting in all his five games in the competition.
Cristiano Ronaldo made a sensational return to Manchester United after he told Juventus of his decision to leave after three years in Turin and with a year remaining on his contract. The Red Devils paid a knockdown fee to sign the five-time Ballon d'Or winner at the age of 36.
His first spell as a Manchester United player had ended in 2009 when he sealed a big move to Real Madrid and he returned to the club around 12 years after he left to join the Spanish team. In his second spell at Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo has six goals in five Champions League games and he would be hoping to continue that impressive record when the Red Devils take on hosts Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their last 16 tie. Already, the 37-year-old has a very good record against the reigning Spanish La Liga winners having scored four hat-tricks in total against them in the colours of Real Madrid and Juventus. He has 25 goals and nine assists in 31 meetings with Atletico Madrid over a 13-year period.
Ronaldo has not been in a very good form in front of goal this year leading up to the aforementioned Atletico Madrid game as he has scored just two goals. The Portuguese national team superstar was on a run of six games without a goal until it came to an end last week Tuesday when he scored the opening goal in the 2-0 home league win over ten-man Brighton. Ronaldo was unable to follow it up with another goal in the next game last weekend as he was not on the scoresheet during the 4-2 win at Leeds United.
