Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is confident that the entire squad including Cristiano Ronaldo should be fit for this month’s Champions League final against Liverpool. The Portugal international sustained an ankle injury during the first half of the El Clasico last weekend but Zidane has assured that the attacker should regain his fitness alongside Isco and Dani Carvajal.
Speaking to reporters, he said: “Everyone will be okay for the final. Cristiano, Isco, and Carvajal. The worst situation is that of Cristiano, because he has just suffered the injury, but he will be fine. Carvajal is lacking a bit of sharpness but physically he is working well. Isco is back training by himself. We will see them all back at 150%. It will be a spectacular game, open, with many chances. The most important thing for us will be to plan what to do in the game. We will analyse it in more detail later, but it is a final and there will be a lot of intensity.”
Los Blancos have not had the best of times in the Spanish league which they surrendered their title to Barcelona without much of a challenge but they have competed effectively in Europe, where they are on course to create further history. Los Blancos became the first club to retain the Champions League era last term and they can now extend this dominance with a third straight final triumph in the elite competition.
However, prior to that, they have to withhold the attacking threat of Liverpool in the final at Kiev and they can be expectant of a tricky challenge with Jurgen Klopp’s side posing immense threat in the attack front. Liverpool have scored the most number of goals in Europe this campaign without suffering a defeat and their front trio of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino are sure to test Los Blancos’ defensive resolve on the night.
