StoryCristiano Ronaldo could push for Paris Saint-Germain move next summer

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly instructed his agent Jorge Mendes to look into a move to Paris Saint-Germain next summer. The European champions are said to be planning surprise swoop for Neymar at the end of the campaign, and this appears to have unsettled the Portugal international, who has yet to earn a contract extension.

According to Don Balon, the 32-year-old is weighing up his options for next season, as he is not comfortable with the future arrival of Neymar. The Brazilian already commands a hefty wage package with the French giants, and it is suggested that his potential move to Los Blancos would see him earn more than Ronaldo, something which the Portuguese is not content about.

Despite the ongoing speculation, Zidane has previously suggested his desire to keep Ronaldo at the Spanish capital, and he is hopeful that the Portuguese calls time on his professional career with the club, he said: "He's the club's history and I hope he's here until he retires doing what he does. I see Cristiano here forever. There's always the same debate, if Cristiano is happy or not here. But everyone wants him at Real Madrid and we want that."

Ronaldo's performances in the Spanish top-flight have dropped since the previous campaign with just four goals during the first-half of the season. Los Blancos are already 16 points behind Barcelona with a game in hand, and their chances of retaining the La Liga crown looks highly unlikely as the league leaders rarely lose more than four games in a single campaign.

As a result, their focus on clinching silverware lie in the Copa del Rey and Champions League, though lifting the latter could be a stiff task based on current form. Real Madrid finished second to Tottenham Hotspur in the group stage, and they now face a tricky and difficult challenge versus Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16.
