Cristiano Ronaldo scored his sixth hat-trick of the season to help Real Madrid register 4-1 win over Levante in the Spanish la Liga.
Cristiano Ronaldo is widely regarded to be one of the best players in the world alongside Lionel Messi. However, the Portuguese has not been able to get the same number of trophies in recent years as Lionel Messi partly because of the superior dominance of Barcelona as a team.
Now, Cristiano Ronaldo looks finally set to help Real Madrid win the title after a gap of three years. He scored his sixth hat-trick of the season against Levante to build a 10 point lead over Barcelona in the league.
Barcelona lost to Osasuna 3-2 earlier in the day, which provided Real Madrid with the opportunity to go 10 points clear at the top of the table. However, Levante give them a shock in the match after taking the lead, but the superior tactics of José Mourinho and the extraordinary skills of Cristiano Ronaldo saw Real Madrid secured the much-needed win. Given that the Spanish league is extremely competitive amongst the top two, it is highly unlikely that Real Madrid would drop 10 points over now and the remainder of the season.
"There are still a lot of points and a lot of matches ahead with all of them difficult because there is a lot at stake. We need 39 points more to be champions – 13 victories but these 10 points now give us a margin for error. It was a goal to celebrate, it was fantastic as everyone could see and the 4,000th goal here," said Real coach Jose Mourinho after the match.
Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored an impressive 27 goals already this season. He is one of the favourites to win the European Golden Boot award this season.
